Nordic Joint Committee for Agricultural Research (NKJ)

“Vehicle for tomorrow’s Nordic agricultural and food research”

Strategy 2011-2014

Research and research-based innovation are key means of enhancing competitiveness and value creation in the agricultural and food sector, and continuous supply of knowledge from research is crucial for realising its future potential. New learning should also aim to ensure that economic growth takes place in an environment-friendly manner. Research may be seen as one component of an innovation system consisting of many players, including political decision-makers, the Nordic Council of Ministers, research councils, universities and industry players. The Nordic Joint Committee for Agricultural Research (NKJ) is a tool for strengthening the knowledge system in the agricultural and food sector in the Nordic countries. European and international research cooperation play a vital role in this context, and will be a horizontal priority for NKJ in the years to come.
