NKJ supports the research concerning sustainable and competitive agriculture and food stuff production in the Nordic area. NKJ projects should:

• Represent research areas that highly prioritised in the Nordic countries
• Benefit in great extent of the Nordic co-operation
• Strengthen the Nordic research groups for participation in international cooperation
• Be highly relevant for the Nordic agriculture
